New Year, New Me! Best Korean Wrapping Masks for That New Year Glow

3 mins read

It’s that time of year again – countdown, fireworks and a new year on the horizon! As the calendar resets, we aspire to shed old habits and step into a clean slate for a better version of ourselves.

A beauty ritual featuring a collagen wrapping mask gives me that same improved-me feeling. There’s nothing like peeling off your face mask and looking in the mirror to see dewy, radiant skin. It’s almost like shedding your old skin to embrace a renewed you.

During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, I’ve put my skin’s health on the backburner. Weeks of stress and the cold winter air have left me with dull and dry skin. To restore glow to my face, I’ve tried four popular Korean wrapping masks: medicube’s Kojic Acid Turmeric Night Wrapping Mask, Abib’s Lifting Collagen Wrapping Mask Jericho Rose Film, APRILSKIN’s TXA Niacinamide 99 Night Wrapping Mask and MEDIPEEL’s Red Lacto Collagen Wrapping Mask.

Read on to see if these K-Beauty favorites deliver the glowing results they promise!

medicube – Kojic Acid Turmeric Night Wrapping Mask

The Product: A sister product of medicube’s iconic Collagen Night Wrapping Mask, the yellow-hued Kojic Acid Turmeric Night Wrapping Mask is infused with turmeric root extract and kojic acid to brighten dark spots and even skin tone. It also contains retinol to boost skin renewal, along with collagen to revitalize skin for that beloved glass skin glow.

Review: This night wrapping mask checks all the boxes, from hydrating to brightening my skin. The mask’s light gel texture formed a comfortable, breathable layer on my skin without any sticky residue. Though it’s packed with active ingredients like retinol, it didn’t cause any irritation to my sensitive skin. Whenever I wore the mask overnight, my skin looked radiant as ever by morning.

Abib – Lifting Collagen Wrapping Mask Jericho Rose Film

The Product: Abib’s collagen wrapping mask features the star ingredient Jericho rose (also known as resurrection plant) for hydration and skin barrier-strengthening properties. It’s formulated with anti-aging favorites like low-molecular  collagen and peptides. Great for mature skin, the sleeping mask helps minimize the appearance of enlarged pores and promote plump and soft skin.

Review: This collagen wrapping mask surprised me the most – in a good way! The mask has a thick and stretchy texture, and to my  pleasant surprise, it dried into an ultra-thin, transparent film that looked and felt almost like natural skin. The thin layer stayed effortlessly on my face throughout the night, and after peeling it off the next day, my skin looked visibly hydrated with that dewy glass skin glow. Just like Abib’s other face and eye masks, this cream-to-film collagen wrapping mask doesn’t disappoint.

APRILSKIN – TXA Niacinamide 99 Night Wrapping Mask

The Product: APRILSKIN’s night wrapping mask doesn’t play around when it comes to fading dark spots with its potent brightening combo of 99% purity tranexamic acid, Vitamin C and niacinamide. It evens skin tone and refines skin texture to promote a smooth, radiant glow. Lightweight and hydrating, the pretty-in-pink mask bolsters your skin’s moisture barrier and plumpness with ceramides, collagen and hyaluronic acid.

Review: I’ve been dealing with a lot of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation recently so this brightening face mask caught my eye. I really like the sleeping mask’s gel texture that felt cooling on skin. The gel dried quickly into an adherent mask that stayed on my face throughout the night. After using the night wrapping mask every other day for a week, some of my acne scars became lighter, and my skin looked more radiant and even-toned overall.

MEDIPEEL – Red Lacto Collagen Wrapping Mask

The Product: This mask from MEDIPEEL features a unique blend of lactobacillus ferment and hydrolyzed collagen for hydration and firming care. The low-molecular collagen easily absorbs into skin to minimize enlarged pores and boost skin elasticity. The formula also contains various amino acids and botanical extracts that nourish skin. It leaves a hydrating finish with panthenol and hyaluronic acid.

Review: This mask’s thick texture is similar to a moisturizer. I followed the product instructions and left the mask on my skin for half an hour instead of overnight, although you have the option to do the latter. Surprisingly, after just 30 minutes of application, I got a glow-up comparable to the results I get from my favorite overnight collagen hydrogel mask! My skin felt smooth with that dewy, glazed donut look. The only reservation I have about the MEDIPEEL mask is its scent, which was the first thing I noticed about the product. Although it’s a refreshing aroma, the fragranced formula might be a concern for sensitive skin types.

Final Verdict

These Korean wrapping masks deliver an instantly gratifying glass skin glow that I can’t get enough of. I love how each mask offers unique benefits, from fading my hyperpigmentation to pepping up dull, stressed skin.

After two weeks of using these wrapping masks, I noticed less fine lines on my face, especially around my nasolabial folds. My skin looked much healthier, with less dryness and dullness overall.

I will definitely reach for Abib’s Lifting Collagen Wrapping Mask Jericho Rose Film and medicube’s Kojic Acid Turmeric Night Wrapping Mask whenever my skin needs a quick pick-me-up!
