Controversial take: Looks matter. Before you disagree, hear me out!

When you’re girl math-ing on whether to purchase your next beauty item, it’s likely that the packaging influences your final decision. Think about it! You’ve most likely bought products based not just on the function but also how they look and resonate with you aesthetically. And it’s hard to beat C-Beauty brands when it comes to packaging aesthetics.

For this beauty review, I selected five innovative C-Beauty products that stand out for both their impressive formulations and unique packaging. Keep scrolling for my honest thoughts!

COLORROSE – Water Ripple Series Eyeshadow Palette (#CR791)

The WOW factor: The prettiest eye shadow palette that’ll get anyone’s attention.

Editor review: COLORROSE’s 12-pan eye shadow palette features a lovely mix of matte and shimmery shades, perfect for creating both natural and glammed-up looks. Its ultra-fine powder feels buttery smooth to touch and blends effortlessly on my lids. While the eye shadow shades are richly pigmented, I needed at least three layers of the matte powders for the color to really pop on my medium-tan skin. The shimmery shades easily gave my lids luminous sparkle, but there was noticeable fallout that spread to my under-eye area.

Packaging-wise, I was instantly mesmerized by the palette’s water-ripple-like design. The front cover is magnetic so I can easily open and close it while doing my makeup, keeping the whole process clean and mess-free. Overall, it’s a fun eye shadow palette to work with.

Judydoll – [Dual-Wing] Serum Mascara (#01 Black)

The WOW factor: A multi-tasking mascara that saves me both time and money!

Editor review: I became a huge fan of Judydoll after trying the bestselling 3D Curling Eyelash Iron Mascara. Because of this, I was more than willing to try the brand’s other mascara products. The [Dual-Wing] Serum Mascara offers more benefits than an ordinary mascara. Its metal applicator features comb-like bristles that can simultaneously lengthen and separate lashes (no need to reach for a separate spoolie!). No matter which side of the mascara wand I use, it never fails to evenly distribute a thin layer of product on my lashes, promoting long, clump-free results.

This mascara is also infused with nourishing ingredients like squalane and camellia seed oil. The lash-serum-like function helps protect my lashes from damage, as I curl my lashes daily and that can weaken lash hairs.

JOOCYEE – Crystal Gloss (#654 Tea Rose)

The WOW factor: A genius metal lip applicator that gives you that icy cold feel with every swipe.

Editor review: While a metal lip applicator is new territory to me, it’s exactly what I imagined it to be. Just like the squishy, donut-shaped applicators on tubed lip balms, the metal applicator is so addicting to swipe on my lips, and it even offers a cooling sensation. The Crystal Gloss’s metal applicator is also easy to clean without leaving behind any residue. The shade #654 Tea Rose is a universally flattering, vibrant red that you can wear all year round. I like applying it on the center of my lips for that soft, gradient effect.

GOGO TALES – Double Spell Lip Cream (4-5) (#G04)

The WOW factor: AirPods or lip makeup?

Editor review: A lip makeup product that addresses common packaging pain points? Consider me impressed! GOGO TALES‘s Double Spell Lip Cream doesn’t just wow with its unique, AirPods-like case – it gives us everything we crave in a lip product. The case includes a lip gloss and matte lip cream, so you get the best of both worlds. The compact design easily fits inside your bag, and its heart-shaped silicone lip brush tucked inside the case allows for mess-free storage and application.

SCENA BELLA – Baroque Series Portable Solid Balm (Oriental Rose)

The WOW factor: A DIPTYQUE solid perfume dupe that’ll knock your socks off.

Editor review: I’m truly impressed by the elegant packaging of this solid perfume balm from Chinese beauty brand SCENA BELLA. Opening the chic black box feels like unboxing a luxury wristwatch, while the embossed magnetic case gives off Oreo vibes with its striking black exterior and creamy white balm center.

As for the scent, the Oriental Rose version features top notes of pink pepper and rose for romantic vibes, complemented by warm and spicy base notes of amber and papyrus. It reminds me of the potpourri my mom would buy to make our home smell nice.

One thing to keep in mind is that though solid perfume balms are great for travel and on-the-go touch-ups, the scent is usually more subtle. So if you want your crush to notice you the moment you walk by, spray perfumes might be a better fit.
