Recreating IVE’s Outfits from “Off The Record”

3 mins read

IVE debuted less than two years ago with the single album Eleven, but the six-member girl group has already become one of Gen Z’s best-loved K-pop acts. With the group’s succession of chart-topping hits including LOVE DIVE and I AM, IVE delights fans with addictive and distinctly unique music.

The Starship Entertainment-backed girl group just released yet another buzzworthy song, Off The Record, on October 6. It’s one of the three title tracks of IVE’s first EP I’VE MINE released on October 13. The other two title tracks are Baddie and Either Way, which was pre-released on September 25.

In the music video of Off The Record, the IVE members engage in a secret conversation about love while digging deeper into their inner desires. Echoing the song’s dreamy city pop sound, the MV juxtaposes fairytale-inspired elements with late-night siren vibes for a mix of girlish innocence and mischievous playfulness. The thematic contrast is reflected through the members’ outfits spanning from girl-next-door ensembles to chic street style looks. Read on to recreate IVE’s snazzy outfits from the Off The Record music video!

Theme #1: Bold Red ’Fits

Sticking to the music video’s central theme of love, the IVE members are decked in striking red ensembles that bring together clashing components into an electrifying yet cohesive whole. Wonyoung’s outfit taps into maximalist Harajuku style while oozing cheerleader charm. She tucks a contrast trim knit tank top into a pleated mini skirt before going full-on flamboyant with a red cropped bomber jacket. The K-pop star keeps the outré energy flowing by pairing red leg warmers with black buckled loafers. The pièce de résistance of Wonyoung’s look is her pink flower applique headband with Lolita-esque appeal.

Liz’s red outfit is more modest, comprising casual separates amped up with bold and sassy touches. Her look centers on a red crew neck sweater featuring black and white stripes for an eye-catching finish. The K-pop idol pairs the slouchy top with a black slit mini skirt and buckled sandals styled with red ankle socks to offset the vibrant color scheme with everyday glam. Liz rounds off her casual yet edgy outfit with a brown cowboy hat for an unexpected Wild West twist.

Theme #2: Street Siren Style

Besides gathering together for a late-night girl talk, the IVE members also go out for an evening stroll in a city filled with deserted spaces. While sauntering through an empty shopping mall, Yujin is clad in a street style ensemble radiating diva energy with edge. Rocking her new short haircut, the group leader wears a black spaghetti strap sequin dress underneath a green hooded bomber jacket for a mash-up of midnight glam and utilitarian chic. Sheer ankle socks and black high-top sneakers dial up the action-ready vibes of her get-up. Yujin seals her outfit with a kitschy beaded necklace for a quirky touch.

Sitting alone inside a closed restaurant, Gaeul dons a moody ensemble that strikes the perfect balance between feminine chic and tomboy cool. A navy oversized jacket is layered over a white lettering hoodie and black distressed shorts for a grungy, worn-in look. The K-pop idol amplifies the rebellious aura by teaming black fishnet socks with knee-high platform boots. For extra street cred, Gaeul puts on a denim baseball cap and rhinestone-encrusted rings that complement her jet-black nails.

Theme #3: Rose Motif

Maknae Leeseo is a prime example of the girl next door in a feminine get-up that mixes cottagecore and balletcore aesthetics. Her outfit is built on good girl pieces including a white T-shirt embellished with rose prints allover and a flowy light gray tulle midi skirt. Instead of pairing the femme items with equally girly shoes, Leeseo merges the demure with the rustic by wearing white embroidered cowboy boots. The IVE member ties her hair into a side braid with a rose hair tie to complete her soft girl look.

Rei plays the role of Cupid in the music video. Far from being angelic and whimsical like how the God of Love is usually imagined, Rei’s earth-tone ensemble replaces the ethereal with the preppy. A brown hooded shrug is worn over a beige knit vest adorned with a lion appliqué. Rei toughens up her look with a khaki pleated mini skirt designed with utilitarian pockets and brown buckled boots. She peps up her double braids with a floral hair tie that echoes the wall of roses in the background.
