It definitely needs to be ironed at first and the material is thick but it's not extremely stiff so it needs to be kept somewhere unsquished to keep its shape. There's also a single thick black and white stitch on either side (see photos) so beware.

The hat sits a little low and is more suited to fashion than blocking the sun. However, the material is nice and it is adorable.
