Alexandra BranBetter than expectedSeptember 13, 2019I TOTALLY fell in love with this cushion. I've been using it for about 2 weeks now & i totally replaced my old foundations for this one. It gives you a super natural finish & the smell is AMAZING. You can tell I have makeup on because of my bronzer & blush but other than that if I didnt have it on you can barely tell you have anything on. It is not cakey at all! I totally recommend it. I got the Darkest shade. #301
Gabriela Lugo GonzálezJust As PromisedMay 23, 2019I've been in the look for cushion foundations for a while now, a couple of months, and Moonshot was highlighted by many people because it was affordable and good. The Moonshot Micro Setting Fit cushion has a semi matte (velvety) finished formula that sets onto your skin as you apply with no need to set with powder. It has minimal creasing, and it does not transfer.
I've only used it twice. The first time I used it was in the morning. I did my skin care routine, and proceeded to do my make-up as the usual. I had it for a couple of hours (around 5.5 hrs), but started to notice it had faded off a bit, but stayed put. I have to point out that where I live has a very hot weather; I live in the Caribbean with a tropical humid weather. I did errands the whole morning, took a final test, and walked home from college.
Although the product is marketed to be a summer type formula (hence the matte finish), I figure that if you do not prime your face properly, it will fade in some areas of your face like the chin, and nose.
I'm currently wearing it a second time with no concealer, powder or blush, but this time I did prime my face with the Etude House 'Face Blur'. I did not set my eyelids like I usually do this time, so you can see where it creases.
So far, so good. The finish is beautiful, and just right. It's a smooth, medium-buildable coverage, and does a decent job at covering dark circles, pigmentation and expression lines.
The shade range is a little problematic. It's a bit different from their other products as it runs lighter, and more warm toned than the rest. I had trouble selecting my shade since I'm a cool to neutral tone. My skin does tan, but my veins run to be blue, teal, and green colored, and my skin undertone is pink. My shades tend to be N2, 21, Cool Beige, Ivory, and Light. I selected the shade 101. It's a full on pink undertone, light shade. It's a great match, not the best, but it works for me.
I definitely recommend it for those who are active and/or like a matte finish but don't want to stress with a full face make up. It does what it promises to do, and looks beautiful. Great deal for an excellent product.
AlissaFavorite Cushion Foundation!! 💖May 13, 2019This is my first Moonshot foundation and I'm in love. Applying it was like a dream. Layering is so easy without getting cakey! It stayed on well most of the day, and once it wore down a bit it still looked great! (just a bit dewy, probably from my natural facial oil). This will definitely be my daily go to. Also THE PACKAGING AESTHETICS? I love everything about this foundation!
Pictures include packaging + foundation at end of a long day 😊
JanellePros and Cons of moonshot cushion!December 15, 2019If you're looking for a transfer-free cushion foundation, that is a natural finish (a little on the matte side), and having a lightweight feel is important to you, then this is one of the highlights that should make the cushion your go-to choice!
1. transfer-free --> you don't really need to set this foundation, even when you just apply a layer and let it air dry and absorb into your skin, it does a great job at not even transferring onto white tshirts if you accidentally brush it against a white clothing surface
2. minimal creasing
3. suitable for kinda sensitive skin --> my skin is sensitive and reacts badly to harsh alcohols, and I notice this foundation doesn't make my skin itchy or irritated, it isn't overly fragranced but doesn't smell bad either, good balance in the formula
4. stays on during hot weather
5. good oil control --> might want to prime it and set it with powder in the t-zone if you are particularly oily, or it is extremely hot, but overall this foundation is great
6. medium-buildable coverage --> this foundation is about medium coverage if you don't build it and layer it, but even if you choose to layer it, it still looks relatively natural compared to a lot of other products. It covers dark circles decently and also does a great job at covering REDNESS which is a big thing about this cushion
(If you're already convinced, feel free to use my code JANELLE for a discount! and get this cushion right now)
1. not a lot of product in the cushion, so it uses up pretty quickly. I'm not someone who uses makeup or even excessive makeup on a daily basis, and it did run out quite quickly compared to other foundations and foundation cushions.
2. the sponge is not round, it has a pointed tip at the top, this can be a benefit for the nose area, but some people might be annoyed at how the base for where the cushion is placed is still circular in shape.
3. shade range not great (see below for more)
If you're a relatively pale asian skin-tone like me, then you would go for the 201. The lighter shade looks quite white, and washed out, so keep that in mind that unless you are very pale or seeking that look, you might want to go with 201 as it is the safer option.
I'm between a 10-20 in Chanel foundations, and between 21 and 22 in other cushions, but 201 fits me perfectly
I definitely recommend it, and this is my second purchase of the cushion. Feel free to use my YESSTYLE CODE : JANELLE for a discount and get this!
Finisterremoonshot 101,a true fair cushionMay 25, 2019Are normal fair foundations too dark for you? Is 13 too dark? Are foundations often too yellow? Does foundation dry you out? Do you want better coverage?
Yeah, I know the problem.
I am fair. As in albino. I literally reflect the sun so bad people can't look at me when I am in the sun.
Foundation has always been difficult for me. Usually 11 is correct (more or less) but it has to be a glowy/silk finish because my skin is dry as hell and gers dried out easily.
Oh. And I have a port stain. On my forehead.
So... Very fair, neutral/pink undertone, dry skin, and high coverage.
Those are my standards.
I tried Missha, and peripera, and the frozen concealer from Apieu after reviews saying those were perfect for fair skin. But they were all too dark. I tried this one out of despair.
And it is awesome. Sure, it is half a tint too dark, but it matches the rest of my body so it is fine. It actually looks more natural than my true color as that makes me a ghost. After a full night out, I can confirm that it did not crease, shift, or flaked. It was a great base for powder blush. I used it with the etude house blur primer, mac 24 hour concealer and urban decay all nighter spray and damn, I love it. I can finally stop the search for a good foundation that checks all the boxes.
starlessxroseNew Must-Have!August 20, 2019I've never tried cushion foundations before, and after seeing reviews for this one and having it go on sale, I figured I would give it a shot. It definitely did not disappoint! It applies wonderfully and a little goes a long way. It looks so natural while still brightening up my skin a bit. It feels light on the skin and has low to medium coverage. That being said, you can still build it up a bit more, but I don't think it will ever be high.
This will be my go-to from here on out, I think.
Ha Tieu MYlove it!!March 12, 2020this is my 4th time I purchased this cushion and it's look amazing on the skin. I have very dry skin and have tried many cushion but this one absolutely looks natural and still on a budget. Recommend!!
Insa5 stars so this will show upApril 3, 2019I give this product 3 stars. The coverage is medium/ high, it applies well in the summer without cakeing. I did have some dry patches around my nose with combination skin. The durability is okay. It stays matt for 4 hours when I go to school by bike.
The downside is that the product runs out fast. I have used it for a month every day and there is almost nothing left. When you apply you have to keep going in, so it uses a lot of product. I got shade 201. I got a light yellow based skintone.
Overal would I recommend it if the price is around 13$. I bought it for 23$ before the sale.. Hope this review helped
Jo301 HoneyMay 26, 2019Sometimes I find shade #23 in other cushions to be just a bit pale on me and #25 to be just a tad dark so I was very happy to find Moonshot in 301 that seems to be in between #23 & #25 on my skin. Good medium coverage, appears buildable, nice texture. Glad I have it!
NoirSurprisingly very goodFebruary 18, 2019I've lost my interest in Korean cushions a while ago because the shade/undertone match was abysmal. I'm not too tan, but I have a cool undertone (cushions often look like light pink bruises on my skin). I have a MAC NW20 shade, and was about to purchase #301 since it looked like a neutral warm, but read a review and chose #201 instead. Although the shade match is not 100% (probably closer to 90%), the undertone is pretty spot on. It brightens my skin without making me look ashy/bruised/ghostly. The formula is also great for oily skin (doesn't budge) and isn't thick (but has good coverage). I wish they would come up with more shades for those who are darker than beige because it's a great foundation.
AlyssaGREAT FOR OILY SKIN!!July 16, 2019I got this after hearing that it was matte and stood on even with sweat and oily skin and it does prove that. I wore it out over my very oily skin and it stood on even after I was sweating and the weather was really hot and humid. I also love the finish, because I have oily skin I dont like having a dewy finish but this gives me a matte finish and when I do eventually start to feel oily hours later it gets naturally glowy and doesnt fall apart or crack. when re-applying it doesnt even look like I've reapplied and sets right in perfectly and naturally. it also covers my huge pores and blemishes, i highly recommend this. also, the scent very light and most likely will not bother those who hate scents however it smells like sunscreen(it has spf). with the color matching, mine matches my skin exactly (I got the color 301 and I usually wear light beige colors with a neutral skin tone) overall this was great for me during summertime when I wsnt makeup but without the sunburn too since this has spf.
