Best serum for acne-prone dry skin
September 25, 2019
For someone with dry, acne-prone skin, the consistency of this product is honestly one of my favourite things about it. Compared to most runny serums, this one is more viscous, adding a lot of hydration and plumpness to the skin, while still not being sticky or tacky like true honey. Because it’s such a pleasant experience to use, i find myself reaching for this the most out of all my serums. On the other hand, if you have very oily skin, you may find this too tacky for your liking.
At the time I bought this product, I was suffering from fungal acne. Since propolis extract is known to be anti-fungal, as well an anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory, it was definitely something i wanted to incorporate into my routine. While my main treatment was an anti-fungal shampoo containing zinc pyrithione, honey is known to increase the effectiveness of anti-bacterial medication, so who knows if this could apply to propolis as well. Overall, I do believe it helped with my general acne that i have been suffering with, while also keeping my fungal acne at bay!
In regards to the sea buckthorn, I can't really comment on it as there isn't much evidence to support sea buckthorn in its effects on the skin, but knowing that it does contain a bunch of antioxidants is a great bonus, so no harm no foul.
Additionally, the fact that it contains niacinamide for brightness just puts me over the moon. If you have acne scarring and texture due to scarring and dry skin like me, it helps even it aaaall out, supporting that honey skin glow.
Finally, I personally got this serum on sale for under $20 CA. While many serums usually come in 30 mL, this came in a whopping 50 mL so it lasts that much longer for an even greater price. Given how often it is on sale here, it’s a great product to try out, especially if you resonate with any of the above!
