5 Smoothie Recipes for Healthy and Hydrated Skin

Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

Relying on skin care products alone isn’t enough to give you a healthy and radiant complexion. You have to factor in your lifestyle and eating habits, as they affect your skin too. While there are plenty of foods that can help keep your skin looking healthy, an easier alternative is to add smoothies to your diet.

Summer is on the way so it’s the perfect time to whip up some smoothies. Smoothies are usually packed with different kinds of fruits and vegetables, which are loaded with vitamins, antioxidants and all the nutrients you need. Smoothies are so refreshing and they also offer plenty of benefits for both your health and skin!

Check out these five smoothie recipes if you want skin that’s healthier and more hydrated:

Peach & Avocado Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup almond milk

1 cup peaches

½ banana

½ ripe avocado

1 tsp honey

This creamy smoothie is packed with healthy fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins that do wonders for your skin. Avocados are packed with vitamin E, which is a superb antioxidant to help protect your skin from free radical damage or environmental stressors. Peaches are also a great source of antioxidants and vitamins A and C to improve your skin’s health.

Watermelon & Strawberry Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup almond milk

1 cup watermelon

1 cup strawberries

1 lime

1 tbsp chia seeds

Watermelons are a summer fruit for a reason. They’re mostly made up of water, making them the perfect fruit to indulge in on hot summer days. Watermelons are rich in electrolytes that keep your skin and body replenished.

By adding some strawberries into the smoothie mixture, you’ll also get plenty of vitamin C, fiber and folic acid, which can protect your skin against UV rays and make your complexion look more plump and supple. If you have dry or dehydrated skin, this is the perfect smoothie for you!

Berry Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup almond milk

½ cup blueberries

¼ cup strawberries

¼ cup raspberries

1 tbsp honey

Berry smoothies are my favorite mainly because they contain blueberries, a superfood with a high amount of antioxidants to help fight against free radicals. Blueberries are also great for reducing inflammation and improving the elasticity and hydration levels of your skin. The combination of blueberries, strawberries and raspberries will not only protect your skin but also keep it looking young and healthy.

Banana & Pear Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup almond milk

1 banana

1 pear

1/2 cup greek yogurt

1 tsp honey

Bananas and pears should be your go-to fruits when your skin is feeling extra dry. Bananas are rich in potassium, magnesium, vitamins B6 and C, which help nourish and repair dehydrated skin. Also rich in vitamin C, pears are great for boosting the health of both your heart and skin.

If you want your complexion to look hydrated, radiant and glowing, don’t forget to add greek yogurt to the mix. Yogurt contains plenty of probiotics that moisturize your skin and help delay signs of aging.

Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

1 cup almond milk

1 cup kale

1 cup spinach

1 banana

1 cup of other preferred fruit (such as mangoes)

If you’re struggling to get your daily dose of green every day, try whipping up this simple and delicious smoothie. Though it contains leafy greens such as kale and spinach, the fruits you add will help balance the taste and give it a bit of sweetness.

Green smoothies are ideal if you’re currently dealing with troubled skin. Drinking a green smoothie a day may not get rid of blemishes, but it will still give you all the nutrients you need for a healthy-looking complexion. To avoid munching on bits and pieces of your leafy greens, blend the vegetables with milk first before adding in the fruits. To get a creamier texture, I recommend using frozen fruits.

All recipes include almond milk but feel free to substitute your preferred type of milk whether it’s soy, coconut, oat, rice or regular whole milk. Drinking a smoothie is always more fun if you’re drinking it from a cute mug or glass with a reusable straw – at least, that’s what I think! If you don’t have any of these items, YesStyle’s got you covered:
