What Korean Products to Use to Minimize Enlarged Pores

Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

Let’s talk about pores. Everybody has pores and unfortunately, no matter how hard you try, you can’t get rid of them! The good news is that there are methods and skin care products that you can incorporate into your daily routine to help minimize the appearance of your pores.

What causes enlarged pores?

The reason that your pores look large or congested may partially be due to excessive sebum, sun damage, or loss of skin elasticity. Most of the time, it’s simply genetic. Enlarged pores also tend to be clogged and clogged pores can result in whiteheads, blackheads and blemishes due to all the dead skin cells that are trapped in your skin.

To minimize the appearance of enlarged pores, you need to unclog them. Here’s a list of Korean skin care products that help get rid of all the gunk inside your pores and make them look smaller:

Oil Cleanser

Double cleansing is extremely important if you want your pores to appear smaller, and for them to stay that way. Add an oil cleanser to your evening skin care routine to get rid of all traces of your sunscreen, makeup and dirt. If you’re dealing with stubborn blackheads, go for an oil cleanser that offers a deep cleanse like the Der. Clear Purifying Cleansing Oil from Korean skin care brand RNW. This cleansing oil is formulated with naturally derived ingredients such as grapeseed oil that melt away daily grime while still nourishing your skin.

Never used an oil cleanser before? Don’t worry, we’ve published a beginner’s guide to oil cleansing in our Beauty Book.

Chemical Exfoliants

One of the most effective ways to really clean out your pores is to incorporate liquid or chemical exfoliants into your skin care routine. Chemical exfoliants include AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids), BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acids) and PHAs (Polyhydroxy Acids).

AHAs are great for getting rid of an uneven skin tone and removing the upper layer of dead skin cells. Isntree’s Clear Skin 8% AHA Essence contains 4% lactic acid and 4% glycolic acid, which work together to remove dead skin cells and leave you with a smoother complexion. You can count on this essence to unclog your pores and also brighten your skin.

BHAs are oil-soluble, which means they can penetrate further into the skin. Since BHAs can penetrate the skin deeper than AHAs, it’s a skin care ingredient that doesn’t just get rid of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin but also deep inside your pores.

COSRX’s Natural BHA Skin Returning Emulsion is a hit for a reason — it does the job and it does the job well! This emulsion is perfect for those with oily or acne-prone skin who constantly deal with excessive sebum. Packed with centella asiatica leaf water and hyaluronic acid, your skin will feel soothed and hydrated every time you use this emulsion.

Just remember that using chemical exfoliants daily can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight so it’s vital to wear sunscreen to avoid unwanted sun damage!

Oil-Free Moisturizers

Since excessive sebum is one of the main causes of enlarged pores, try to stay away from moisturizers that are too rich and creamy for your skin as they’ll block your pores even more.

Instead of layering thick moisturizers, go for oil-free moisturizers such as d’Alba’s Peptide No Sebum Repair Cream. This cream controls excess oil, thanks to its calamine powder, and also improves skin elasticity. It also absorbs into your skin quickly and hydrates your skin without feeling greasy.
