I’ve always chosen to be minimal with my everyday makeup. There’s a reason why the “no makeup” makeup look has been popular for a while now. It’s simple, super easy to do, everyone can pull it off, and the best thing is that you don’t need that many products to achieve a natural makeup look.
The first and most important step is to prep your skin correctly. Start with a skin care routine that’s suited for your skin type, and aim for dewy and plump skin so your makeup looks fresh. Check out these skin care routines for: dry, oily, acne-prone and sensitive skin.
Here is a list of makeup products we recommend for minimal everyday makeup:
Step One: Primer
Your primer is the starting base of your makeup look. While there are a wide range of primers to choose from, you should go for one that gives your complexion an extra boost of radiance.
VDL’s Lumilayer Primer is a favorite among YesStyle customers for a reason. This primer illuminates your skin, helps smooth out your skin texture and is a great base for your makeup. If you haven’t tried it yet, or you’re looking to repurchase it, try the brand’s Lumilayer Primer Pantone 20 Edition. It’s packed with Violet Lightflects™ Pigment to give your skin a natural glow and improves your skin texture. This special edition primer also comes with sleek packaging that pays homage to Pantone’s Color of the Year 2020.
Step Two: Concealer
To keep your makeup look as minimal as possible, ditch the BB or CC creams and foundations for now and stick to using a concealer. Concealers are great as they give you just the right amount of coverage while still allowing some bare skin to shine through.
The Saem’s Studio Concealer is perfect for everyday use. This concealer has a lightweight formula that’s easy to spread and gives you a natural finish while still being able to cover up your dark circles, blemishes or dark spots. Thanks to its hydrating coverage, your skin won’t look cakey at the end of the day.
Step Three: Eyebrows
The key to natural-looking brows is to do less. If you already have thick eyebrows, a few swipes of brow gel are enough to tame your hairs. If you have quite sparse brows, try eSpoir’s Colorful Nude Simply Brow Pomade Gel Cream. This brow pomade gel cream is quick and easy to use, and features a long-lasting soft gel-cream formula that naturally fills in your brows.
Step Four: Mascara
When you’re going for a minimal makeup look, try to keep your eye makeup simple. This means taking a break from eyeliner and instead reaching for a reliable mascara like heimish’s Dailism Smudge Stop Mascara.
This mascara gives your eyes subtle definition without looking too dramatic. It gives you long and defined lashes with volume and it doesn’t smudge or clump at all! To keep your lashes curled for a longer period of time, make sure to use an eyelash curler before applying your mascara.
Step Five: Blush
After grooming your brows and applying mascara, it’s time to move on to your cheek makeup. Cream or liquid blushes are perfect for simple and natural makeup looks but if your skin is on the oilier side, you can stick to powder blushes.
For a natural flush, go for MBX MEMEBOX’s I’M MEME I’m Bare Cheek Liquid. This liquid blusher is formulated with almond, orange, cranberry and provitamin D extracts to give you a nice healthy glow. It’s also easy to use and it blends effortlessly across your cheeks, just be sure not to apply too much to avoid looking too over-the-top.
Step Six: Lips
The last must-have you need for minimal everyday makeup is a lip tint! Save your matte and bold lipsticks for your going out looks and stick to lip tints instead. Lip tints are a staple of mine when I’m doing a very simple makeup look since they give your lips a pop of color without looking overdone. Plus, lip tints won’t budge all day!
If you’re looking for a lip tint with a formula that’s extra nourishing, you can’t go wrong with BLESSED MOON’s Fluffy Lip Tint. It feels super light on the lips and offers just the right amount of pigment that’s perfect for a minimal makeup look.
