Just in time for summer, Twice has come back with tropical house track More & More – and its MV visuals definitely live up to its sound. Set in a recreation of the Garden of Eden (apple and serpent included), the nonet is clad in varied nature-inspired ensembles that’ll keep you looking and feeling fresh in the coming months.
Look 1: Nature
Twice members explained that the two main concepts for this comeback were “nature” and “hippie.” The two might appear incredibly different, with the former finding expression in dreamy pastel maxi dresses adorned with lace and ruffles, and the latter taking the form of loud prints and bold colors. However, the music video’s lush greenery manages to seamlessly meld the two concepts together. The members’ pastel dresses emphasize purity and innocence, echoing the serenity of the garden by day, while their expressive hippie getups show off the slightly mysterious and dangerous energy of the jungle by night.
Cute and functional, flowy dresses are a mainstay in summer wardrobes year after year for good reason. To take a page from Twice’s book, go for more mature, timelessly elegant options. Chaeyoung and Jihyo exude a dramatic, artsy mood with romantic puff-sleeve white flared dresses. On the maxi front, Dahyun’s powder blue lace dress, Tzuyu’s contrast-trim tiered dress and Momo’s ruffled floral dress could just as easily be red carpet looks as garden party outfits.
Look 2: Hippie
Twice’s last summer bop was Dance the Night Away from 2018, where they sported mostly casual beachwear, but this time, they’ve adopted a more mature image that they’ve never tried before – bohemian! Although it might seem hard to pull off the girls’ in-your-face mishmash of prints and hippie accessories, you can easily adopt an element or two to add a dash of free spirit persona to your everyday outfits.
Breezy dresses are great for keeping cool in the hot summer months, and boho chic dresses – while a decidedly different mood from the aforementioned fairy-like dresses – are equally, if not more, summer-ready. This multi-colored elbow-sleeve number made of airy chiffon is sure to turn heads, while a balloon-sleeve V-neck wrap dress in red cinches in the waist and allows you to show off a little leg. The girls also allude to their surroundings by incorporating vibrant tropical motifs into their clothing. Tzuyu’s iridescent butterfly necklace pairs beautifully with her leaf-print strappy mini featuring a flirty cut-out, while also echoing Momo’s sheer butterfly print top. The girls also juxtapose Western style against bohemian for an unusual, edgy twist, mixing and matching cowboy boots and thick buckled leather belts with feather hairpieces and braided headbands.
Look 3: Retro
Finally, Twice goes for a retro throwback look in true matchy-matchy girl group fashion, rocking a range of ultra-girly crop tops, navy blue bell-bottom jeans and chunky dad sneakers in white. Personally, this look is my fave as I love how they take the dated jeans and sneakers, which aren’t normally associated with summer, and breathe new life into them in a way that feels youthful, modern and fresh, effectively kickstarting a new trend for the warmer months!
The girls artfully balance bottom-heavy silhouettes with cropped, form-fitting tops to keep things current. Jeongyeon goes for a simple off-white crochet top while Momo and Dahyun’s polychromatic crochet pieces make a bigger statement. Mina and Nayeon both flaunt florals, with the former opting for a rosy-hued front-tie top with elasticated sleeves while the latter is clad in a sexy black cami. Going the extra mile, their patterned tops are perfectly coordinated with bell-bottom jeans featuring embroidered hems, which find their fun, trendsetting appeal in being unabashedly tacky and superfluous.
The perfect finishing touch comes in the form of dad sneakers. All the rage lately, these shoes are usually paired with urban streetwear. But here, they add just the right amount of a sporty, casual vibe, grounding the pairing of boho crop tops and retro bell-bottom jeans.
