LOONA is a 12-member K-pop girl group formed by Blockberry Creative. The group’s Korean name (이달의 소녀) literally translates to “Girl of the Month,” with the members representing each month of the year. The girls also each have an official animal, color and fruit. In one of the most unique debut rollouts of all time, each member of LOONA released a solo track prior to the official group debut in 2018. The pre-debut solo releases garnered a huge fan base for the group, proving that they’re all exceptionally talented!
LOONA’s Chuu, whose real name is Kim Ji-woo, debuted in 2017 with her solo song Heart Attack, and she definitely “took my heart” and many other fans’ too. Although she might represent December, her cute and girlish charm is definitely as fresh as spring. Her sartorial choices are also perfect for spring because she always opts for comfortable and easy-to-wear pieces that you can mix and match with any item in your closet. Plus, LOONA just got their first music show win last week on M Countdown, so this calls for a celebration!
Can you count how many penguins there are on Chuu’s outfit?
Starting with Chuu’s official color, I’ve styled her in a peach polo shirt. She’s often seen in this preppy staple, and this piece wouldn’t go amiss in her onstage and offstage wardrobe. The classic polo is reworked with a unique asymmetric placket accented with colorful mismatched buttons, making this a minimal statement piece perfect for elevating a casual outfit.
Chuu says that she’d choose skirts over pants any day, so I’ve chosen a white pleated mini skirt for her. It cinches in the polo’s oversized cut, accentuating the waist and creating a flattering silhouette. For her footwear, white pleather sneakers with faux suede toe caps continue with the tennis-inspired style and add textural interest.
Orbits (LOONA fans) know that every member has an official animal. If you couldn’t guess by looking at Chuu’s adorable face, her official animal is the penguin, and it would be remiss of me to not bring this element into her outfit!
From a low-key hairpin to an in-your-face gigantic backpack, I’ve incorporated as many penguins as possible to her attire! I’ve also placed an embroidered patch on her polo top for a personal touch. Mustard yellow socks (with allover mini penguins, of course) complete the look by adding a pop of color to the otherwise neutral palette.
