Valentine’s Day Style at London’s EL&N Cafe

#WhereYouAt

Known for its Millennial Pink interiors and photo-ready decor that’s in-your-face girly yet still on-trend, EL&N currently boasts eight locations across London. I’ll be focusing on their Knightsbridge site, which features signature candy heart walls with modern sayings like “YOLO,” “Boss Lady,” “Gucci Gang” and “Thank You, Next.” With caved-in corners and comfy seating, this is the perfect location for an intimate catch-up session with your favorite ladies while sipping on EL&N’s signature drinks, such as their Red Rooibos Latte, Lucky Charms Latte or Blue Sapphire Latte. Of course, you can’t leave without snapping an OOTD pic and posting it on your feed.

Posing and editing are hard enough as is, so to make the process a little easier, I’ve planned outfits designed to match with the cafe’s aesthetic. These can also double as Valentine’s date looks – suitable no matter where in the world you are. For those lucky enough to be in London on February 14th, why not hit up the cafe in the daytime with your girls before heading over to your candlelit dinner in style?

With Luxe Pink Velvet Pieces

Apart from its famous candy heart walls, the cafe’s plush pink velvet tub chairs also make frequent appearances on the ‘gram. Velvet might be a popular choice for furniture and homeware, but it’s an oft-forgotten material for clothes and accessories. Not only does it give off super vintage, posh vibes, it’s also soft to the touch and keeps you warm in the cold months – you’ll feel like you’re being enveloped by a soft blankie!

Dresses are a no-brainer pick for date outfits as they look put-together without requiring much effort. This first dress comes in an A-line construction with a deep V-neckline, puff sleeves and rhinestone buttons, while the second dress is a modest long-sleeved tiered piece that can be worn loose or cinched in with the included waist-tie. If you live in a colder climate, finish off with cute heart tights and an equally fancy furry coat.

Not into dresses and planning to rock pants for more comfort? Opt for a velvet top instead! This bustier-and-cardigan combo is casual and uber-trendy, and the cardigan can be worn alone as a surplice wrap top. Extravagant velvet usually comes without extra adornment, but for a patterned option, this cropped V-neck cami comes in a lovely floral print and flattering lace-up back.

Accessories allow you to echo the velvet chairs without looking too matchy-matchy. This one-of-a-kind petite shell-shaped purse with a pearl zipper pull gives off magical underwater princess vibes, while this thick velvet headband creates a preppy, doll-like look. These Blair Waldorf-esque headpieces are all the rage lately, so now’s the time to jump on the bandwagon!

With Ethereal Layered Lace Items

Inspired by the styling of the puff-sleeve velvet dress from above, I’ve looked for lace pieces that mimic velvet’s romantic yet regal vibe while balancing out the thick material with its lightness. I’ve also gone for white or off-white to recreate a conventional Valentine’s color palette. Lace might not be known for its warmth, but the whimsical material creates a seamless backdrop for your centerpiece items and also serves as an easy way to cover up for those who aren’t fond of showing too much skin. Pair this sheer mock-neck long-sleeve lace top with low-cut items, such as the puff-sleeve dress or floral print cami from above for subtle flirtation. For something a little more substantial, this collared, button-up lace jacket adds structure and a formal air. Layering isn’t just reserved for tops – you can also rock this zig-zag hem lace slip under loose-fit skirts and dresses for a delicate touch, and finish off with these precious scallop-edge lace socks for head-to-toe femininity.

With Black Faux Leather Accessories

I also took a page from the styling of the tiered long-sleeve velvet dress pictured above, which was refined with black boots, a black purse and a black choker. To offset ultra-femme lace and velvet, I’ve picked out classic black faux leather accessories that create a sleek, chic and well-balanced look. Staying true to the spirit of Valentine’s, these accessories include heart-shaped elements to keep things fun and festive. Heart-buckle loafers and a heart-buckle belt with matching dangle accent are slightly more tough, boyish pieces, while embellished crossbody purses are sharp and snazzy. This simple trapezoid one comes with a gold-tone heart closure, and this contrast-trim purse is decked out with a statement red heart cutout, heart print strap and beribboned handle.

With Minimal Gold-Tone & Silver-Tone Jewelry

With a luxurious, dreamy velvet and lace base offset by modern black faux leather trimmings, there’s no better way to top things off than with timeless silver-tone and gold-tone jewelry. This minimal rhinestone heart choker is just the thing to pair with a low-cut lace-trim neckline, and this adjustable double heart ring can be stacked with other dainty rings. Made of 925 sterling silver, these clean-cut heart-shaped designs look mature and polished. If you’re looking for a little more drama, these hip asymmetric dangle earrings come with rhinestone and faux pearl embellishment, while this pearl-accented hair clip (which you’ve definitely spotted on all your favorite fashion bloggers) will spice up any basic hairdo.
