Transitioning from hotter to colder months is always a troublesome time for my skin. Fortunately, there are months when my skin doesn’t break out as much, but with weather changes, I can only hope for the best. The type of acne that I normally get is mostly inflammatory like papules or pustules. To reduce any signs of inflammation, I look for skin care products that help purify my skin and clear up the acne without leaving scars.

So how do I deal with my acne issues? Enter Korean skin care brand make p:rem. I’ve been a fan of the brand ever since I laid my hands on their UV Defense Me. Blue Ray Sun Gel SPF50+ PA++++. I decided to give their new line Solution Me. a go and incorporate four products from the collection into my skin care routine since they’re targeted for acne-prone skin.

Step 1: Solution Me. Mild Bubble Foam

What it is and what it claims to do: A gentle cleansing foam that unclogs pores and helps get rid of impurities and excess sebum.

My experience: I like the fact that this cleanser is formulated with salicylic acid, which helps heal active blemishes, reduces inflammation, improves skin texture, and gets rid of any impurities that clog pores.

The Mild Bubble Foam forms a nice creamy lather that feels so soft when applied on the skin. It does have a slight scent that’s almost medicinal but it’s very subtle so I don’t mind it. Two pumps are all I need to create a good lather that I like to gently massage all over my face for a full minute before washing off. The cleanser definitely soothes my active blemishes and prevents new ones from forming. It also leaves my skin feeling clean and moist at the same time.

Step 2: Solution Me. Mild Soothing Pad

What it is and what it claims to do: A mild soothing pad that helps refine and soothe skin.

My experience: I’ve used my fair share of toning pads and so far, I haven’t had any luck finding one that doesn’t further aggravate my acne. That is, until I tried the Mild Soothing Pad.

This cotton pad is soaked in extracts that calm and soothe irritated skin, such as Centella asiatica, Agrimonia pilosa, and Quillaja saponaria bark extracts. The pad is thinner than your usual cotton pad, and feels more like soft gauze.

Since the pad exfoliates skin, I only incorporated it into my routine once a week to avoid over-exfoliating. The Mild Soothing Pad feels gentle on the skin and I find that it helps get rid of most of my whiteheads. Using it is also a great way to prep my skin for the next step in my routine.

Step 3: Solution Me. Mild Soothing Ampoule

What it is and what it claims to do: A lightweight ampoule that soothes skin and brightens a dull and tired-looking complexion.

My experience: My first glance at the ingredients list already had me hooked! The Mild Soothing Ampoule is infused with acne-friendly ingredients, which also happen to be some of my favorites like niacinamide, Centella asiatica leaf extract and betaine salicylate.

The ampoule comes in a cute tube packaging and feels extremely lightweight. I’ve never used an ampoule that my skin absorbs as quickly as this one; it takes as little as 10 seconds for my skin to absorb it! After weeks of using it both day and night, I found that most of my acne spots look a lot lighter and I’m also glad that I didn’t break out further.

Step 4: Solution Me. Mild Balancing Fluid

What it is and what it claims to do: A lightweight moisturizer that restores hydration and balance to the skin, and soothes a sensitive and irritated complexion.

My experience: Just like the Mild Bubble Foam, the Mild Balancing Fluid is packaged in a sleek and minimal pump bottle. I prefer this over jar packaging mainly for hygienic reasons.

The moisturizer has a very light, watery texture and it works great at reducing redness and inflammation. While it claims to be hydrating, I was disappointed to see that this wasn’t the case for my skin. I have combination skin so my T-zone is on the oily side and my cheeks on the drier side. It does hydrate my skin but I don’t find that it does enough for winter. Only a few hours after application, and I can already spot a few dry patches around my cheeks. It’s still a great moisturizer overall but I think I’ll save space for it in my summer skin care routine instead.

My Final Verdict

All four products work really well in terms of soothing and taming my blemishes, as well as reducing any signs of redness and inflammation. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Mild Bubble Foam as it’s gentle yet effective. Leave a comment below if you’ve tried any of these new products from make p:rem!
