#WhereYouAt

When the weather gets cooler, there are two ways to keep warm: thick, cozy wear or snuggling up to someone special. If you’re a K-Drama enthusiast, you’re probably familiar with scenes of lovebirds strolling with arms linked in covetable couple fashion. Chances are these were filmed in Goyang’s tranquil and picturesque Ilsan Lake Park, as popular romantic K-Dramas like Encounter, The Beauty Inside, W-Two Worlds, My Love From Another Star, To The Beautiful You and Dream High have all shot at this expansive location. Spanning over 990,000 square meters, it’s one of the largest man-made parks in Asia, with attractions like a sculpture park, medicinal herb island, rose garden, bike paths, walking trails and even a musical fountain. It’s also home to the International Horticulture Goyang Korea, the country’s largest flower festival.

Looking to snap a few Insta pics when you’re out and about in nature this season? Turn to the practical yet put-together style made popular by these K-Dramas! Whether you’re visiting Korea or just planning to head to your closest park, here’s a guide to achieving leading lady status, stat.

#WhatToWear

Instead of going for bold shades of orange or red to match with leaves, I’ve kept things super neutral with cream and brown pieces to create a romantic date outfit that’s stylish but still sensible. These simple, light-colored pieces will give you a fresh, innocent glow for girl-next-door appeal, and also perfectly complement the earthy, wintry tones of the park.

With Neutral Knits

Go head to toe in soft knitwear that’s weather-appropriate but still romantic. Midi dresses show a bit of leg, but you can incorporate high boots or long socks to keep warm. This collared V-neck dress is a breezy casual piece, while this ribbed dress with contrast trimming has subtle varsity influences. Both come in a straight fit to hide that post-Thanksgiving belly. You can also throw on a belt to cinch in your silhouette.

Not a fan of one-pieces? Break things down with coordinating sets! Though perforated cardigans might not seem like the most practical picks for cold weather, you can easily layer them over thermal undershirts. This dreamy piece with luxe faux pearl buttons comes in white and green, while the sweater on the right keeps things low-key with a drop shoulder design, bishop sleeves and uneven gold-tone buttons.

With the onset of cooler weather, I find myself wanting to slip into no-brainer skinny jeans and black leggings every day. Fitted midi skirts are just as comfy but look a lot less lazy, and they boost feminine appeal with a streamlined silhouette. This cable-knit skirt pairs perfectly with any sweater, and is great for hayrides, visits to the pumpkin patch, or other fun seasonal activities. For a slightly more formal, work-appropriate look, opt for this sophisticated skirt that comes with tonal buttons and a cheeky slit.

With Matching Outerwear

The key to F/W fashion is to start with a fitted base, so you can pile on warm jackets and chunky winter accessories without losing your figure. With the base sorted, I’ve picked out coats in matching tones but different fits and textures. Chic trench coats pair well with the sweater dresses from above since they hit at roughly the same length. In contrast, soft and fuzzy jackets are a youthful, cutesy choice. Opt for this classic trench that comes in two different lengths, or a unique color-blocked variation detailed with buttons at the back. This sherpa fleece jacket with hidden buttons comes in a cropped fit that looks smart and snazzy, while the slightly oversized furry wool variation on the right tops off a laid-back ensemble.

With Preppy Plaid

To break up the neutral palette, incorporate subtle dashes of this classic F/W print. It’s sure to pull your whole ensemble together and elevate it to the next level. The woolly beret on the left enlivens any winter look with sweet springtime colors of pink, yellow, blue and green, while this navy blue option is adorned with yellow or orange plaid and a metallic buckle to add toughness. Plaid also translates effortlessly onto faux leather bags for a Burberry-esque touch that channels posh British vibes. This compact purse with a statement gold-tone buckle is a femme choice, and the bucket bag on the right is a must-have for those who can never leave home without their entire vanity table. It offers plenty of room to store gloves, scarves, earmuffs and any other winter essentials.

With Ladylike Loafers

Finish off your polished get-up with some old-school loafers that are full of vintage charm. With the shoes’ barely-there heels, you’ll get a little extra height and still be able to walk around comfortably all day long without worrying about tired, blistered feet. These Mary Jane loafers are a wearable throwback to school uniforms, and classic loafers in brown or black are an androgynous yet equally refined choice. Remember to put on a pair of socks to keep your feet toasty! Frill-trim socks complete the innocent schoolgirl vibe, while these delicate lacelike pointelle socks enhance womanly allure to counteract more masculine footwear.
