Summer holidays are slowly coming to an end, which means many of you will be heading back home from your summer travels. As much fun as traveling can be, it’s exhausting – especially if you’re taking long-haul flights. Jet lag doesn’t just affect our bodies, but also our skin.
If you’ve just come back from your vacation and find yourself suddenly dealing with skin problems, then you’re most likely suffering from jet lagged skin. Does your skin look dull, tired, or drier than it was pre-vacation? If so, check out these tips to help you beat jet lagged skin.
Tip 1: It’s important to stay hydrated
Cabin air leaves skin extremely dehydrated so staying hydrated before, during, and after your flight can make a huge difference for your skin. Try to avoid drinking coffee or alcohol while on the plane and stick to water. You can also opt for coconut water!
Tip 2: Masking is a must
Post-vacation glow is real but jet lag can take that glow away if your skin is dehydrated. Applying a mask like I’m From’s Honey Mask helps nourish your skin thanks to its hydrating ingredients. This mask is formulated with natural honey and enriched with propolis and bee venom, as well as macadamia nut, jojoba seed, hazelnut, and sunflower seed oils. Expect your glow to come back, and for your skin to be softer and smoother!
Your skin could also suffer a breakout, especially if you have acne-prone skin. To prevent further irritation, try BONAJOUR’s Mugwort Cream Calming Mask to soothe and calm your skin.
Tip 3: Add a facial oil to your daily routine
Facial oils are perfect not only for locking in moisture but also for leaving skin with a dewy and radiant glow. AROMATICA carries a cruelty-free oil called the Organic Neroli Brightening Facial Oil, which is a great remedy for jet lagged skin, and ideal for those looking to brighten up dull skin. Mix a few drops of the facial oil with your moisturizer or use it directly on skin after your serum.
You can also do a quick 5-minute facial massage after applying your facial oil. Massaging your skin is great for boosting circulation and helps it to further absorb the facial oil for deeper hydration. Try it, your skin will be in for a treat!
Tip 4: Hide your eyebags with eye patch masks
Nobody wants tired skin or tired-looking eyes. A quick and easy way to look refreshed is to apply eye patch masks. Give MEDI-PEEL’s Hyaluron Dark Benone Peptide 9 Ampoule Eye Patches a go. These hydro gel eye patches are packed with hyaluronic acid that keeps your eye areas hydrated. The patches are also infused with pearl and diamond powder to reduce the appearance of dark circles. Let the patches sit for about 10-15 minutes then gently pat in the remaining essence. Goodbye eyebags!
Tip 5: All you need is sleep!
This last tip is the most obvious yet the hardest to do when you’re jet lagged. All you need is sleep! Your skin isn’t at its best state when you’re jet lagged since you’ll most likely be deprived of sleep. Not getting sufficient sleep takes a toll as it affects the skin’s collagen growth, hydration levels, and can cause breakouts or inflammation. It may take a while to recover from jet lag but try to get as much sleep as possible and your skin will recover in no time!
Having trouble getting some decent shut-eye? Try using a heating eye mask to help relax your eye areas and make it easier to fall asleep.
