TONYMOLY X Moschino Vintage Makeup Looks

The YesStyle Beauty Lab

Released last year, the TONYMOLY X Moschino makeup collection is what kitsch dreams are made of! With luxe packaging and eye-catching shades, there’s nothing that’s not extra about the products.

With so many shades and versions, the major conundrum is which one you’re gonna add to your shopping bag. Scroll down and maybe you’ll finally be able to, uh, make up your mind!

Having the same formula as TONYMOLY’s bestselling Floria Nutra Energy 100 Hours Cream, this Moschino version is packaged in a matte black container with gold-toned cap and pump. The cream is formulated with Moroccan argan oil, fermented oil and protein to moisturize and protect skin, and 57% saffron flower water to soothe and calm skin.

Considering this cream is formulated with incredibly moisturizing ingredients, I thought it would leave my oily skin feeling extra oily or at least greasy-looking. However, the lightweight formula dried very quickly and made my skin feel very smooth. It also has a rather subtle and soothing floral scent. Argan protein, a plant-based polymer in the cream, ensures smooth and even application.

Having difficulty choosing between the Chic Skin Special Edition Cushion, Gold Limited Edition Cushion, Black Limited Edition Cushion and Essence Pact? The gorgeous and luxe packaging makes it an even harder choice!

Despite the different packaging, the various editions of Chic Skin Cushion have the same formula. If you’re more of a minimalistic gal, go with the Gold Limited Edition‘s sleek black and gold pact. The Special Edition‘s design featuring gold-toned studs encircling a faux leather center matches that of the Lip Tints G and M. The Black Edition and the Essence Pact are cute and fun with vibrant covers matching the Super Beam Eye Palette.

The cushion and pact share triple hyaluronic acid, berry complex and collagen as ingredients, but they apply differently and have different effects. I used both in the shade Chic Honey. The cushion was closer to my skin tone and provided lightweight and buildable coverage, while the essence pact provided a brightening effect and very high coverage that blurred all of my spots. The multifunctional pact has beige, pink and white brightener swirled in, so it’s also a color corrector for dull skin.

Both the cushion and the pact are available in three shades and have a cooling and lightweight texture. They’re formulated with Collagen Boosting Essence from Italy that left my skin feeling moisturized. Neither had a strong fragrance, and both stayed fresh all day and well into the night!

Insta-worthy? Check. Millennial-friendly? Check. Extra? Check.

Aptly named All of Color and All of Gold, the Super Beam Eye Palettes come with eight very Moschino shimmery shades. Both palettes are shaped as an iPhone with a removable case for your phone! Complete with a wide mirror and double-ended brush, this is perfect for on-the-go gals. The pressed eye shadows are highly pigmented and blendable, and the eight shades are easy to mix and match.

The black matte liner is not as matte as I expected, but it was smudge-proof and lasted all day long. Its thin tip delivered a dense black color for a dramatic Moschino-esque finish! The formula also dried very quickly, making it easy to layer on when I evened the wings.

The lightweight and matte lipsticks are formulated with shea butter, avocado oil, macadamia oil and jojoba oil, and glide effortlessly over lips. The incredibly smooth and buildable formula is great for creating a gradated effect.

Pigmented yet subdued, the colors Maple Red, Brick Petal and Evening Hour can be nicely incorporated into a casual everyday look. Evening Hour is my favorite shade out of the three as the deep plum color is very wearable. The angled tip of the bar makes it easy to apply anytime, anywhere!

If it took you a while to figure out why there are Chic Stay Tints G and M, it’s alright – it took me a while too! G basically stands for Glossy and M stands for Matte. The tints are designed with a black casing and gold-toned cap. The glossy tints have shiny casings while matte ones have matte casings. Both tints boast vivid shades with high color payoff as you would expect from this Moschino collaboration.

Formulated with honey extract, Tint G kept my lips moisturized. Though it didn’t dry very quickly, it was easy to apply and to use for a gradated effect. The formula was also incredibly buildable and left my lips very pigmented after just a couple of swipes.

Tint M was far more pigmented and delivered a very crisp finish that I immediately fell in love with! Not for the faint of heart, the tints have eye-catching shades more suited for those of us who are very extra. The creamy formula doesn’t dry quickly but once it does, it leaves a smudge-proof and matte finish. I tried layering more of the formula throughout the day (even though there was no need) to see if it would crack like most matte formulas do. However, probably thanks to the rosehip oil infused in the formula, it stayed put without any cracking!

Final Looks

One word: melodrama.

Considering the amount of products in the TONYMOLY X Moschino collaboration, it only makes sense to have two looks. Moschino’s recent vintage telenovella-esque campaign was a great jumping point and inspo.

Left: I used the warm tones of the All of Gold Eye Palette to create dramatic evening makeup and toned down the look by pairing with the Lip Market Matte Bar in the shade Evening Hour. I accessorized with a red scarf and cat-eye sunglasses for a kitsch look fit for a chic 60s mom.

Right: For my day makeup, I took an even more retro twist. I blended the cool tones of purple, pink and blue from the All of Color Eye Palette and finished with the super matte Tint M in the shade Steel Heart. I accessorized with a striped blue scarf to complement the eye shadow and anchor the whole look.
