The YesStyle Beauty Lab

If you have acne-prone skin like me, you’ve probably heard of the Korean skin care brand COSRX. If you haven’t heard of COSRX before, you can read all about the brand’s story here. COSRX is a cult favorite in the beauty sphere as the brand’s products have garnered a lot of positive feedback from users.

I have combination, acne-prone and sensitive skin so I’m extra cautious when picking out products to add to my skin care routine. I’ve tried a few skin care items from COSRX before including their best-selling cleanser, essence, acid exfoliant, sleeping mask and pimple patches, and I find that their products are effective and don’t irritate my skin. As a big fan of COSRX, I was super excited to try their newly launched ampoules and creams from the HYDRIUM line!

Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule

What does it claim to do?

This soothing and lightweight ampoule is made for sensitive and acne-prone skin. It’s enriched with Vitamin B5 to hydrate and nourish skin, centella asiatica extract to calm and relieve inflamed skin, madecassoside to protect skin, and allantoin to moisturize skin.

My experience:

Let’s just say, I’m in love. I haven’t stopped using this ampoule since I started! It absorbs into my skin quickly so it’s not too heavy to use during the day, and it fits perfectly into my morning skin care regimen.

The formula of the ampoule is extremely smooth with a thinner consistency compared to the Triple Hyaluronic Moisture Ampoule. It glides on seamlessly and there’s no stickiness whatsoever! I’ve been breaking out ever since summer began (probably from all the ice cream I’ve been eating as my skin doesn’t agree with dairy!), and this ampoule has been a lifesaver. Being formulated with cica extracts, the ampoule offers anti-inflammatory benefits and soothes my angry, red pimples.

Green Tea Aqua Soothing Gel Cream

What does it claim to do?

This gel cream moisturizer has a quick-absorbing formula that hydrates and soothes skin. Just like the Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule, the gel cream also contains Vitamin B5 that hydrates skin and allantoin that keeps skin moisturized. Its other main ingredients are camellia sinensis leaf extract, which offers calming benefits, and aloe vera leaf extract, which soothes skin.

My experience:

Having combination skin is hard because I need a moisturizer that’s light enough for my oily T-zone areas but hydrating enough for my parched cheeks. Finding the perfect moisturizer for summer is a constant struggle!

This gel cream works perfectly with the Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule. It has a jelly texture that feels refreshing when applied on the skin and it leaves a very lightweight finish. It’s a great moisturizer to use during summer, especially if I’ve spent all day at the beach. The cooling formula works well post-beach or even post-workout when my skin’s extra red and I need something to cool it down.

Triple Hyaluronic Moisture Ampoule

What does it claim to do?

This ampoule locks in moisture while providing skin with long-lasting hydration. It’s formulated with three types of hyaluronic acid and Vitamin B5 to deeply hydrate skin and improve the skin’s elasticity.

My experience:

With a combination of sodium hyaluronate, hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, this ampoule leaves my skin feeling super hydrated. I’ve tried using it in both my morning and night skin care routines. I find that it’s quite thick to use during the day, but I have no issues with it at night.

Even though it’s summer and I don’t really need that much hydration since part of my skin is oily, I still prefer to use a hydrating serum at night. Our skin loses a lot of water overnight so unless you want to wake up with a really dry and tight face, I recommend you add this ampoule to your nighttime routine, especially if you have dehydrated skin. The ampoule replenishes moisture to my skin overnight and I always wake up to plump and supple skin – absolutely no complaints about this product!

Moisture Power Enriched Cream

What does it claim to do?

This thick cream deeply moisturizes and replenishes skin with moisture and it also soothes skin. The cream is infused with Vitamin B5 to hydrate skin, propolis extract for anti-inflammatory benefits, and ceramide to strengthen the skin barrier.

My experience:

I first made the mistake of using this cream during the day and before I knew it, my face looked like a grease pan by midday! I switched to using it in my night skin care routine and it helped lock in all the moisture that my skin needs throughout the night. The cream feels thick to the touch but once applied, it creates a smooth and protective layer that prevents moisture loss.

My favorite part of this cream is that it contains ceramide. My skin has been through a lot of breakouts and sun damage so using products that are formulated with ceramides helps strengthen my compromised skin barrier. I also find that this cream helps in calming and reducing redness.

My troubled skin loves all four HYDRIUM products so they’ll definitely have a spot on my skin care shelf. I’ll stick to using the Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule with the Green Tea Aqua Soothing Gel Cream in my morning routine and the Triple Hyaluronic Moisture Ampoule with the Moisture Power Enriched Cream in my night routine. All four products are also paraben-free and cruelty-free.

If you have easily irritated skin, I recommend using the Centella Aqua Soothing Ampoule. For oily skin types who don’t want to look slick throughout summer, keep the Green Tea Aqua Soothing Gel Cream on your skin care shelf. If your skin is more prone to dryness and flakiness, then the Triple Hyaluronic Moisture Ampoule and Moisture Power Enriched Cream will give you all the moisture you need.
