5 Fruit-Infused Water Recipes for Hydrated & Glowing Skin

If you want glowing and hydrated skin, just applying skin care products won’t be enough. Having a healthy diet and lifestyle also has a huge impact on how your skin looks and feels.

Aside from feeding your body with lots of nutritious food, you also need to stay hydrated for better skin. You are what you eat, right? Drinking plenty of water every day is not only important for your overall health but it also does wonders for your skin. And by plenty, I mean the recommended 8 cups or 2 liters of water! However, sometimes drinking that much water can be a chore, especially now that you’re in summer vacation mood and you’d much rather reach for a tastier alternative like soda.

PREP TIME

Before you quench your thirst with yummy fruity water, you’ll need the following:

    1. Water in a jug or a water pitcher (1L or 2L) 
    2. A handful of sliced fruit (you can use frozen fruit too, but it’s best to use fresh ones)
    3. Chopped fresh herbs, if needed
    4. Optional: ice!

Strawberries and basil are both rich in Vitamin C, so you’ll definitely get your healthy dose for the day with this power combo! Strawberries help nourish and revitalize skin while basil has anti-inflammatory benefits that are perfect for those with irritated skin.

Mixing cucumber and lemon in water is a classic combo at spas, and it’s my personal favorite. It’s refreshing and super hydrating, which is probably why spas serve it to you after an hour-long massage!

Lemons are a great source of Vitamin C. They help brighten skin, fight against free radicals, and boost cell turnover. Although cucumbers aren’t technically a fruit, they’re great to mix with lemons since they have high water content and boost hydration. Cucumber peel also contains silica which helps with firming skin.

Blueberries pack a powerful punch of antioxidants which is what you need to stimulate collagen production. Adding a handful of fresh or frozen blueberries also increases your skin’s circulation which helps to give you a glowing complexion. For antibacterial benefits, add a few lime wedges. Lime water also keeps you hydrated longer!

Oranges turn plain water into a zesty treat; they’re perfect for summer as they’re both sweet and refreshing! Keep the peels of the oranges when adding them to your jug of water – they contain a higher amount of Vitamin C, which helps slow down signs of aging. Kiwis are high in fiber and Vitamin E, so mix them with oranges and you’ll get flawless skin in no time!

Fun fact: Mint contains salicylic acid, an ingredient you’ll find in many acne-fighting skin care products. So if acne is getting in the way of your glow, then mint will save your skin. It also contains Vitamin A which controls excess sebum, making it ideal for oily skin types. Add in a handful of raspberries and your skin will have added protection against sun damage, thanks to their high amount of antioxidants and Vitamin C.
