The Plant Base Ampoules Review

The YesStyle Beauty Lab

Ampoules have been an essential part of my skin care routine ever since I went through a skin crisis early last year. After a dreadful six months of dealing with cystic acne, I was left with weak and damaged skin. Acne scars, hyperpigmentation, redness, rough skin texture and an uneven complexion – you name it, I have all the post-acne issues you can think of!

That’s where ampoules come to the rescue. Similar to serums, ampoules contain a high concentration of potent active ingredients that help repair and improve skin’s condition. Ampoules offer various benefits so to find the right one for you, make sure it targets your specific skin concern.

The three skin problems that I’m focusing on are: dryness, premature fine lines and a damaged skin barrier. I gave The Plant Base’s ampoules – Waterfall Moist Balanced Hyaluronic Acid 100, Time Stop Collagen Ampoule and Quesera Ceramide – a go to see if they would help with my skin issues.

If you’ve read my other articles, you know that I’m a sucker for a clean ingredient list; it’s the first thing I check when reaching for beauty products (I do the same for food). The Plant Base produces hypoallergenic products formulated with natural plant extracts and certified organic ingredients. No traces of parabens, mineral oils, pigment or artificial fragrances means there’s 0% chance of me breaking out.

All three ampoules can easily be incorporated into your everyday regimen. You can apply the same ampoule both morning and night or use different ones each time. Here’s how you can fit one into your routine:

Cleanser -> Toner -> Essence -> Ampoule/Serum -> Eye cream -> Moisturizer -> Sunscreen

Waterfall Moist Balanced Hyaluronic Acid 100

One of the things I love about winter is that I can spend less time trying to tame my oily T-zone. However, the downside to cold air is that it dries my skin out. To avoid dry and flaky skin, especially around my cheeks, I make sure to add hyaluronic acid to my winter skin care routine.

The Waterfall Moist Balanced Hyaluronic Acid 100 does a great job keeping my skin hydrated. I even brought it onboard during a long-haul flight over the holidays as my skin needs all the moisture it can get. Cabin air is my skin’s worst enemy!

After only a week’s worth of use, I already noticed an improvement in my skin’s moisture level. This ampoule leaves my skin supple and hydrated when used as part of my everyday routine. I also noticed less flaking around my cheeks and at the corners of my mouth.

I like to incorporate the Waterfall Moist Balanced Hyaluronic Acid 100 in my morning routine so my skin retains the added moisture and is left hydrated throughout the day – especially under the layers of makeup I wear. The ampoule does leave behind a sticky residue but it fades away once my skin fully absorbs it.

Time Stop Collagen Ampoule

One of my other skin concerns is the subtle fine lines that have started showing up around my mouth and forehead. I’ve been trying to get rid of them because every time I apply makeup, my finish powder tends to settle in the lines which accentuate them even more! The Time Stop Collagen Ampoule is a great addition to my night routine to target this concern.

I incorporate mostly anti-aging products at night since this is when skin goes into repair mode. Unlike the hyaluronic acid ampoule, the Time Stop Collagen Ampoule has a non-sticky finish. Once fully absorbed, my skin feels soft to the touch!

I also like to gently massage the ampoule onto my fine lines to boost blood flow to that area and help stimulate collagen production. If you want to try this, remember to always massage in upward circular motions to lift the face.

After using this ampoule for a couple of weeks, I can tell that it’s helped soften my laugh lines. Hopefully they can vanish completely with consistent use!

Quesera Ceramide

The last ampoule I tried is the Quesera Ceramide. I’ve used hyaluronic acid and collagen-based products before but this was the first time I tried a product with ceramide on its ingredients list.

Among the trio, I was most excited to try this one out because, first of all, my skin was new to ceramide (and I love trying out new things). Second, this ampoule improves the skin’s overall condition, which is exactly what I need to help my damaged skin barrier resulting from past acne.

I tested this ampoule differently than the other two. Instead of incorporating it in only one of my routines, I applied it both day and night to boost its effectiveness. The Quesera Ceramide feels very lightweight and, in my opinion, has the best texture among the three. It has a smooth texture that glides easily onto skin.

Although it’s hard to tell whether or not the Quesera Ceramide successfully strengthened my skin barrier, I did notice an improvement in the appearance of my complexion; it looks less dull and has a bit of a glow.

If you have similar skin issues to me, I recommend that you give one of these ampoules (or maybe all of them) a go! For those who are concerned about their skin breaking out, don’t worry because The Plant Base doesn’t use harmful ingredients. I have sensitive skin and luckily didn’t have any negative reactions from using these ampoules.
