SOME BY MI Something Eyes Palette Review

The YesStyle Beauty Lab

I’ve always been a collector of eye shadow palettes because I can’t resist their packaging and range of colors. Out of all the ones that I own, I’ve probably used only one or two of them as the shades don’t really fit into my day-to-day routine. The latest additions to my vanity are about to change that.

Say hello to SOME BY MI’s Something Eyes Palettes.

Something Eyes Palette by SOME BY MI comes in two variations – #01 All Some Day and #02 Some Pick. I couldn’t wait to try the colors the second I laid my eyes on them. Also, I was instantly obsessed with the packaging! Each comes in a luxurious and sleek light pink and gold compact with a built-in mirror. The palette is also small and practical enough to carry in a makeup bag or while traveling.

First four: starburst, mellow beach, pearl under the sea, sweet & moist brownie (#01 All Some Day)
Last four: glittering sand, soft castella, blooming cherry blossom, warm cocoa (#02 Some Pick)

One of the great things about eye shadow palettes is that they come with a selection of shades that you can use alone or combined to create different looks. The Something Eyes Palette consists of four different hues: three shimmery shades and one with a matte finish. Macadamia seed oil and rosehip oil are among the ingredients that allow for a soft and crease-free color payoff. Pearl powder is included to add luminosity.

As you can see from my swatches, some colors are more pigmented, like Sweet & Moist Brownie and Warm Cocoa, but all colors give a rich finish.

There are plenty of looks you can create with one palette – it’s all about experimenting and playing around with the colors! If you’re new to eye shadows, you can follow these steps to achieve a natural look:

Step 1: Start with a base shade and apply it all over your eyelids.

Step 2: Choose a color that you want to stand out on your eye line, and apply it to the outer corners of your eyes.

Step 3: Brighten up your look by using the lightest shade to highlight the inner corners of your eyes, the lower lash line or just below the brow bone.

Starburst, Pearl Under The Sea (top row) and Mellow Beach, Sweet & Moist Brownie (bottom row)

01: Starburst – pale warm gold with shimmer

02: Pearl Under The Sea – champagne peach with pearl

03: Mellow Beach – warm golden brown with fine gold shimmer

04: Sweet & Moist Brownie – rich warm brown with gold shimmer

This palette has warmer tones, and seeing as how I’m quite tan with olive undertones, the eye shadow does come across as more sheer. Also, the colors look less noticeable on my eyelids – especially the shade Starburst. It took quite a few swipes for my lids to pick up some color so if you have a skin tone similar to mine, I recommend you go for the second palette instead. I think All Some Day will suit lighter complexions so if you have fair to medium skin tones, give this palette a go!

Glittering Sand, Blooming Cherry Blossom (top row) and Soft Castella, Warm Cocoa (bottom row)

01: Glittering Sand – coral beige with gold shimmer

02: Blooming Cherry Blossom – copper-shimmered pink coral

03: Soft Castella – muted taupe matte

04: Warm Cocoa – medium red brown with shimmer

I love this palette! The pink-toned shades provide just the right amount of shimmer and color, and they stand out more on my skin tone without look ashy. The colors are also perfect for fall!

The coverage is definitely buildable, and its fine and smooth texture makes it easy to blend.  You can use all the shades for your everyday makeup look and increase the intensity for a night look.

The Something Eyes Palette is a great deal for an eye shadow palette! Plus, its longevity is impressive; it lasted throughout the day without the powder falling all over my face. If you have oily eyelids or you just want the colors to pop even more, then I suggest adding an eye primer beforehand.  For a complete look, follow up with eyeliner and a coat of mascara.
