The Best Shoes for Summer

Sunglasses, swimsuits and sandals are three essential staples for summer. I’ve already talked about sunglasses and swimsuits, so here comes the third part: sandals! Apart from the perennial slides and mules, I’ve also included espadrilles, platforms and wedges to suit different attires. Let’s walk into the summer sun in comfort and style!

Knotted Slides

Instead of plain pool slides, why not go bolder with a knotted version? Look for daring colors and fabrics, like satin or contrasting stripes, for a more polished look. I also prefer slides with vamps directly formed by a knot to those solely attached with a bow accent.

Pointy Mules

The mule trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. But instead of peep-toe block-heel mules, the market has found a new love in pointy mules with a low wedged heel. Since the vamp and the wedge share a similar height, the design looks almost like a paper boat when viewed from the side. If you’re looking for the “it” shoes to rock your work wear, this is it!

Floral embroidery continues to dominate in the world of fashion. A pair of flat mules with colorful floral embroidery on the vamp is a worthwhile investment. You may also try platform sandals with embroidery at the sides or on the midsoles.

A pair of espadrilles is just what you need to go with your boater straw hat and round straw bag. Apart from canvas slip-ons a la TOMS, you can also experiment with espadrille sneakers, wedges and sandals.

Tie-Ankle Sandals

Though it may take some time tying the laces around the ankles, tie-ankle shoes are undoubtedly in trend and will surely turn heads. Wear cropped jeans or a mini skirt to show off the lace-up details. If you’re wearing tie-ankle ballerinas, match with a bodysuit, wrap-front cami and tulle skirt for a full ballerina look!
