Here comes April! Soon we’ll be in the midst of full-blown festival madness. The packed schedule of outdoor summer festivals reminds me to reconsider my wardrobe. Who wants to be another boho babe dressed in a 70s maxi dress (which is actually a fabulous choice of resort wear, mind you)? Be creative! Wild parties present chances to mix and match in different ways. Pair flouncy striped sets with bohemian-style fringed accessories, or wear statement earrings instead of a floral headband. I’m getting excited just thinking about it!

(For more suggestions, read my follow-up article on bohemian fashion staples for summer.)

1. Printed Open-Back Romper from Persephone

During the hot and humid summer, it’s a test of endurance to attend an outdoor festival and really enjoy it. Wearing a comfortable one-piece will make things easier. This boho chic floral romper is a failsafe go-to. All it needs is a matchy bikini top. I love the pattern, the open-back and the cool-girl vibe it gives off.

2. Lace-Paneled Off-Shoulder Blouse from Jolly Club

This flowing top featuring signature boho-inspired lace detail is perfect for the party circuit. Light layers work best with this wisp of a blouse. Teaming with bright-hued shorts should do the trick.

3. Floral Bustier Top from chuu

Nothing screams confidence (and convenience) like a flattering and fuss-free bustier top. Sport with high-rise jeans and hiking boots (you know, for the mud) for a midriff-baring look that’s as carefree as it is functional.

4. Floral Stripe Shorts from TWIK

As with rompers, short shorts are another festival fashion staple. Why not swap the tired denims with a lovely pair of floral stripe shorts? Outsmart fickle weather with easy-going separates featuring statement prints!

5. Black Wide-Leg Pants from DABAGIRL

Another viable, fresh departure from the classic jean cutoffs, these tailored culottes make for a fabulously edgy combo with crop tops. If you’re more into a wide-leg silhouette than very short shorts, this would be it. Save the wild boho pants for next time.

6. Mirrored, Polarized Sunnies from GIMMAX Glasses

If you’re festivaling on sunnier shores, needless to say you’ll need a good pair of sunnies. Pick a design that ticks all the boxes: mirrored, polarized and with statement details. Enough said.

7. Tasseled Sandals from Hello sweety

If it doesn’t have to be waterproof, I’d go for a breathable and stylish pair of sandals, like this aptly tasseled style that features a subtle wedge. These shoes are a no-brainer for dancing and the outdoors.

8. Faux Leather Ankle Boots with Buckle Detail from Wifky

These minimal ankle boots fit the bill on rainy days. The earth-tone hue is easy to match, and the block heels increase your height while keeping you comfy. They’ll work with shorts as well as they do with wide-leg pants.

9. Chain Fringe Earrings from soo n soo

All my friends will be wearing the flower crown so I’d better go for a good pair of earrings instead. I need a pair that is more elaborate than an everyday design, but still subtle enough to complement any outfit. These lovely chain tassel earrings are the perfect pick.

10. Fringed Crossbody Bag from chuu

Clutches and handbags are so out of place at festivals, while a backpack feels a bit too casual. This boho style fringed crossbody bag comes as a convenient option and works to temper chilled-out holiday looks.
