Previously, the YesStyle Beauty Lab team reviewed Innisfree’s very popular Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask, and now we’re following with a look at the toner from the same Jeju Volcanic line. With the reputation and good reviews this beauty line has earned, I just can’t wait for it to rescue my acne-prone face!
This toner is particularly suitable for acne-prone skin as it contains the legendary volcanic mineral powder from the Jeju volcano. According to Innisfree’s official website, the alkalescence powder is effective for removing sebum and other impurities, hence improving clogged pores and skin complexion. Due to its cleansing properties, the toner is best used on cotton pads after washing your face, and should be followed by an application of moisturizer.
4-Free Formula: The toner is free from parabens, artificial colorings, mineral oil and animal ingredients.
In line with Innisfree’s eco-friendly philosophy, the paper box is made of recycled paper, while the liquid is contained in a plastic bottle topped off with an aluminum screw cap.
A stopper secures the opening, but you can throw that away after the first use
and just use the screw cap alone.
The toner has a pleasant floral smell that makes you feel closer to nature.
Sniff sniff… oh wait, I haven’t even removed the cap yet.
The toner’s texture is watery without being too dry on the skin. The most important step is to SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE because the volcanic powder usually settles at the bottom of the bottle. The first time I used the toner, I forgot this crucial step and wondered why it felt like water.
Sediment as seen on the leftmost photo, and the way it looks after shaking (middle photo). The third photo shows that the toner is slightly milky after shaking.
I soaked a cotton pad with the toner and gently wiped it all over my face after washing. I was greeted with a cooling sensation, and the toner was absorbed almost immediately. It’s non-greasy, non-sticky and spreads easily on the face. Neither is it too dry or irritating. I have dry and very sensitive skin, and I can assure you that this product was completely safe for my face.
The powder is so refined that the toner looks almost clear on the cotton pad.
Though there was no visible dirt on the cotton pad after use (after all, I’d already cleansed my face prior to applying the toner), I could feel that my face was cleaner, tighter, less oily and more relieved. After using it twice a day for a few days, my acne began to subside and there were less spots forming.
At US$25.23 per 250ml, I’d say it deserves a 10 out of 10, especially for sebum control. Trust me, this toner will keep your skin happy all summer!
