My Top Ten: Essential Summer Dresses

summer dress essential

Summer is the party season, with picnics and festivals during the day and drinks and alfresco dining at night. The endless outfit options make me feel indecisive. Tempted to pick up different outfits for each occasion, I always take much longer to dress up than I should. So this season, I decide to stick to a capsule collection of dresses that caters to essentially all occasions. Transitioning from day to night, mixing and matching, accessorizing – these dresses make everything so much easier!

1. Bird Print Skater Dress from 59 Seconds DRESSES FOR VALENTINES DAY

This flattering skater dress is my perfect brunch companion. With a cinched waist and a full, flared skirt, the dress channels feminine, flirtatious allure, while bright bird print throughout makes it uniquely refreshing. I’d keep everything else casual – say, a fringed bag and sandals, when meeting friends for an alfresco meal.

2. Notched Neckline Shift Dress from DANI LOVE alt=

This versatile style is especially great for running errands on a Sunday morning. Instead of lazily tossing on a pair of sweatpants, I’d pick this low-key yet edgy style, accessorizing it with sneakers and a shopper tote for maximum comfort.

3. Bodycon Dress with Waist Cutout and Sheer Panels from DABAGIRL DRESSES FOR VALENTINES DAY

This’ll be my go-to if I’m heading to a glamorous place and want to punch up the ensemble. The daring bodycon cut and sexy waist cutout create a tempting, edgy look. I’d style it up with a golden statement necklace and stilettos for a fun night out.

4. Floral Skater Dress with Sweetheart Neckline from ENVY LOOK DRESSES FOR VALENTINES DAY

Coming in an on-point floral print, a fit-and-flare silhouette and a flattering sweetheart neckline for a dressy twist, this style is perfect for an upcoming summer wedding. I love attending outdoor weddings, especially when I know what I should wear. I’d team this with stacked wedges to elongate my body and stay comfortable, plus a metallic clutch for a sparkly finish.

5. Sleeveless Sheath Dress with Drape Detailing from Dowisi DRESSES FOR VALENTINES DAY

Thanks to its sleek and slightly structured silhouette, this leafy green sheath dress easily transitions from work to play. A perfect option for heading to the office bright and early, it’d look great when teamed with a cropped blazer and pointy heels.

The wrap dress has always been a favorite of mine. It hugs in all the right places, cinches at the slimmer parts of the silhouette, and draws attention to the most flattering parts of the body. This monochrome edition makes for a wonderful daytime look. I’d glam it up with floral heels for attending an evening soiree.

7. Halter Neck Floral Sundress from Dowisi DRESSES FOR VALENTINES DAY

This one is a must-have for resort getaways. The halter neckline and flowing silhouette exude easy elegance. Its ankle length is demure but not prim, while soothing florals echo the season’s vibrant mood. Paired with strappy sandals, the dress is ideal for any summer rendezvous from beach outings to festive parties.

8. Lace Maxi Dress from Tokyo Fashion DRESSES FOR VALENTINES DAY

Besides its versatility, I love the fact that this floor-grazing style is lightweight and loose enough to catch the breeze, making it the perfect summer dress. But the best part is that you can build a look around this basic piece by accessorizing – think bracelets, oversized necklaces, hats and designer shades!

9. Casual Sundress with Side Slit Detailing from PINKFIT DRESSES FOR VALENTINES DAY

There’s one dress I can’t wait to try this summer: the side slit. What better time is there to show off those tanned calves? This comfy maxi is an amazing style for outdoors. Team with earth-toned sandals to look like a bohemian.

This list wouldn’t be complete without a floaty white dress. The white color makes it versatile. All I need is a pair of sandals and a fringed bag, and I’m ready for a summer music festival. Throwing on a pair of canvas sneakers makes for an effortless weekend look.
