Mandom Lucido-L Hair Wax (Edgy Move) Review

The YS Beauty Lab

I’ve been meaning to lop off my hair for a while, so I bought Mandom’s Lucido-L Hair Wax in anticipation of the big cut. However, I’m lazy and at this point, I’m just trying to see how bad my split ends can get before I finally go and make myself look presentable.

Right now, my hair is a couple of inches past my shoulders. When it’s this length, I don’t put any product in it and just throw it in a ponytail. When I had a pixie cut, I used pomade, but really, my knowledge of hair products is pretty limited. I had no idea if hair wax works as well with long hair, but it was time to find out!

Wax Figure
I was surprised upon unscrewing the cap because the hair wax doesn’t really look like wax. It almost looks like conditioner but with a very gummy consistency. There’s a tangy, citrusy scent that’s pretty nice but I was happy to note that the scent disappears after applying the wax to hair.

The wax contains silica powder for a silky feel and extra holding power, as well as hyaluronic acid to keep moisture in the hair for a soft finish. I only applied the wax on dry hair at the tips and on my bangs, and the silky finish was almost immediate. However, I noticed that my smooth bangs and hairtips contrasted the frizz everywhere else. I finished up by spreading a little wax all over my finger tips and running them through the rest of my hair.

My hair also felt softer although I had to guess how much to use to achieve the desired results. The first time, I put on too much and my hair felt like I’d put taffy in it. For best results, I just covered my finger pad with a thin layer of the wax and then styled one chunk at a time.

The wax comes in a 60g container and retails for US$10. I have no idea if this is a good price, but I think it’s pretty doable since you don’t need very much for each application.

I had no expectations going in but ended up being very impressed overall. I have straight hair that turns wavy in humid weather, and the wax effectively flattened frizz and tamed the waves, especially at the ends. With just the right amount, the wax blends right in so there’s no conspicuous smell or texture. The holding power lasted the better part of the day and washed out quickly. Basically, it’s an easy, minimal-fuss product that doesn’t require a lot of brainpower in the morning when I’m running late for work. I approve!
