When I first took this cardigan out of its packaging, it smelled bad. I was so excited about this cardigan before I got it -- then I got it and referred to it as "the stinky disappointing cardigan," after I tried it on briefly and didn't realize that I just needed to let the look grow on me.
So after the garment aired out and I picked it up again, I started to love it. In a building with weird heating or suburban homes, esp. if you don't have a space heater, it can get nippy indoors. I throw this cardigan on and I'm cozy and comfortable!
The sleeves are dolman sleeves -- which means they're loose around your arms unless you pull them up towards your upper arm. They do make you look like a flying squirrel when you stretch your arms out though :P The funnel neck can go up if you don't have a scarf or something, and it looks kind of chic. Otherwise, when the collar goes down, it looks pretty classy and gives the wearer a "grand" kind of look.
I've worn this in mid-40-degree(F) outside and it was a bit windy. It was barely comfortable enough, though I was wearing only a small tight short sleeve shirt underneath, and since it's knit with thick/coarse yarn, the wind will kind of blow right through you. It's cute and chic to wear in public, I think.
The buttons are great. They're securely sewn into the garment and you're not that afraid of the buttons getting torn out when you use them.
My complaints include the pockets and my concern with how this whole garment is going to wear down. The pockets are extremely shallow (and pretty useless), so they easily pop inside out. Even when they're pushed in, you can see the pockets from the inside if you don't button up the cardigan. That's probably the "worst" thing about this cardigan. Otherwise, naturally with garments that are crafted this way and with this material, it looks like it'll unravel somewhere when it gets snagged. But that is not to say this cardigan isn't well-knit together -- because it really is.
I'm too afraid to put this in the washing machine. I've only dry-cleaned it with woolite in the dryer. Lord knows you DON'T want this cardigan to shrink!
This piece is eye-catching in public (I got the red one), cute, chic, comfortable and mid-range cozy. I highly recommend it.
