American fashion designer Marc Jacobs started his career even as a student at Parsons The New School of Design. He became the youngest designer awarded the fashion industry's highest tribute, The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent. In 1995, the first Marc Jacobs store opened in New York's Soho district. From men's and women's apparel, the designer expanded to include leather goods and shoes, then fragrances in 2006. Today, Marc Jacobs retail stores can be found in cities worldwide, from Asia to Europe and the Middle East.
