The Mask
Sometimes, my skin feels so bad that I just want to hide behind a mask. ‘Cos you know, a mask is indeed very practical; to hide your identity, in the case you are in fact a superhero. Or maybe just hide your imperfections. Sometimes, it can also be used for entertainment. Or to scare the Devil away. But I am not here to talk about that kind of masks tonight.

Yes! Life can be extra tough on your skin what with all the pollution, stress and bad eating habits we all face and have. As a result, your skin can become dull, with uneven skin tone and blemishes. Nothing sexy, really.
But SuperNoona might have something that could give you a little help for a healthier-looking skin: My Beauty Diary Black Pearl Mask! The Taiwanese brand is available at YesStyle! I’ve bought several of their products in the past but I’ve never tried this one. Let’s see how it goes!
Here’s what the YesStyle Editors have to say about the product:
“As a best seller, Black Pearl Mask softens and whitens skin while bringing back its original resilience and glow. The natural active ingredients of white pearls brighten and soften skin. The citrus trio of pineapple, lime and cucumber gently shed off dull and dead skin cells to reveal a newer and more vibrant complexion. Black Pearl Mask is recommended for normal skin types to improve skin elasticity.”
I’m not too sure if the product should be recommended for sensitive skin, since it contains lime and pineapple extracts, which can be irritating (due to their whitening action). For my part, I didn’t feel any irritation. But then again, my skin is not sensitive at all.

I love the thin protective wrap with little hearts. So cute!!!
While we tend to use cream masks in France, such as mud masks, paper masks are very popular in Asia. Paper masks come in individual packaging and are soaked in a liquid called “essence” or serum. A plus: they are highly hydrating and there is no need to rinse the skin after use!
I love paper masks. Every time I go to Asia I can’t help buying tons of them. In Korea, they even give them for free if you go into the shops! I try to use them at least once per week. And my skin VISIBLY needs some attention right now. Yes, I’m showing my bare face full of imperfections to the World Wide Web. Problem?

Each mask contains a good amount of essence, without going overboard. The texture is not too thick and is easily absorbed for a smooth finish. I usually apply the spare amount of essence around my neck, hands and arms areas.
This is how the mask looks like when unfolded:

You’ll just need to apply it on your face like so…

… and gently remove the protective plastic film. You need to adjust it so it perfectly adheres onto your face.

Supah easieh! Even YOU can do it!! xD

Now, all you’ll have to do is to look like a mummy for about 20-30 minutes. Seems best to use it in the evening as 30 minutes is quite long. Might just want to watch part of a movie while waiting :) Or you can just go and give your little brother/nephew a good scare. Evil, I know.
Once the time’s up, it is time to delicately remove your mask.

Then all you have to do is gently tap your face until the excess essence is fully absorbed! In Asia, women prefer to apply their serum or toner this way, rather than rubbing their skin with a cotton pad, so their skin can absorb more product and feels more stimulated and soft!

Skin is now supple, firm and radiant. The mask didn’t have such a whitening effect on me (not that I mind it, since I do prefer myself with a bit of a tan), but just enough to give me a healthy glow. If you are looking for a stronger whitening result then you’ll probably be a bit disappointed. I still wouldn’t recommend this product to sensitive skin, but since My Beauty Diary has a large collection of masks, you’ll be sure to find what you’re looking for, whatever your skin type.

So if you too want to pamper your skin giving it full hydration and nourishment, try out this mask! And as for the rest of the range, you can check My Beauty Diary You will love it for sure!
