D is a dhampir, a half-human, half-vampire creature whose internal struggle to come to terms with his origins leads him to pursue the path of a vampire hunter. He is a graceful, silent, but thoughtful character, whose character depth is oftentimes forgotten because of his impressive combat prowess. The art direction and ending of Vampire Hunter D? Bloodlust alone make it a worthy-enough movie to watch. D’s journeys and interactions with the vampires he hunts leaves us realizing there is a certain lack of appeal to the vampiric lifestyle. The immortality it grants is a mark of isolation from others and eventually becomes the despair of never being able to die.

In a world where fantasy, science-fiction, old-western, and the post-apocalyptic meet, Vampire Hunter D is a beautifully desolate and gloomy world. Here is what I envision the aristocratic yet rugged D wearing.
