Special Outfit Thanks

As most of you know, I attended Spring/Summer 2011 New York Fashion Week over the past days to cover over 30 shows! While I am writing away my coverage for the shows and trying to catch up on all of my school work, I wanted to extend a special thanks to the retailer that’s been providing me with outfit pieces. A special shout out to YesStyle.com, who provided me many of my pieces for New York Fashion Week. I brought some of my favorite YesStyle pieces with me: the drape cardigan, the military hood top, and the zipper v-neck. And boy, do I have stories about these pieces!
I wore the drape cardigan on my busiest day, where I was asked to sit front row at several shows, including the Academy of Art University show in Lincoln Center (Miss J from America’s Next Top Model sat several seats down from me!). The drape cardigan is a great addition to my wardrobe, and I’ve been dying to get one for a few months. It’s a great layering piece, and it also works by itself just fine. The unstructured silhouette of the piece gives drape cardigans a lot of versatility and also helps you appear slimmer than you really are. =]

I wore the military hooded top on my second day of Fashion Week. I loved the simple edge it added to my outfit. The shirt was slightly distressed with holes in various locations. It also had a hood attachment that used a wire frame inside to maintain its form. Paired with an Alexander McQueen skull scarf, I was able to create another simple but awesome look. In case you haven’t realized at this point, I can be pretty lazy when it comes to outfits, so I love looks that are deceptively complex, but actually simple to style.
This was exactly the outfit I wore when I bumped into Kate Lanphear outside of Lincoln Center. In case you don’t know Kate Lanphear – gasp, if you don’t – she’s the Senior Style Director at Elle US. She’s one of my favorite style icons, so to be able to get a photo with her made me die a little with joy inside.

I also wore the same outfit while reporting backstage at Mik Cire. In case you haven’t seen already, I covered the backstage scene at several shows during Fashion Week. And let me tell you, backstage at menswear shows is fantastic. So many male models in one location. I die.

I wore the zipper v-neck on my final day of fashion week. I paired it with my new leather jacket from AllSaints Spitalfields to create a rocker chic look. I took this photo with actress and socialite Olivia Palermo at the Tibi Spring 2011 show.
