Nikki’s Inbox: A little help for ladies with a little less…
Hello Nikki!
I’m a young college student in my second semester and I need help choosing clothing that fits my age. Since I’m becoming more of an adult at this time of my life, I want to dress more appropriately. I usually wear a hoodie and a pair of jeans to college. I have a very small chest so I feel blouses don’t really look appealing on me. I want to look classy, more feminine and youthful. What should I be looking for?

You’ve definitely come to the right place! The possibilities for creating your new look are endless with the vast selection of styles here at YesStyle.com. And lucky for you, spring is almost upon us, which means the chance to wear flirty and fun dresses in celebration of the warmer weather.
First, let’s address the bust issue. Lisa, darling, always remember that you work the clothes, not the other way around. With the right amount of confidence, anything can look good on you, small-chested or not. With that said, there are plenty of styles out there that can subtly enhance your bust and help create curves, without going under the knife or reaching for those wads of tissue.
Good-quality push-up bras with extra padding and underwire are always prime assets, err, investments. These two components work together to create cleavage and help lift the breasts. I can never emphasize enough the benefits of good quality lingerie. In my opinion, this is a woman’s best secret! Wear under blouses, shirts, dresses, tank tops, T-shirts…pretty much anything, actually! T-shirt bra styles are your best bet for a seamless look under any top.
Boatneck cuts also work to your advantage, as they span the shoulders and show off your neck and face, instead of your chest. They usually complement classic nautical styles, offering you that très Parisian chic! Go for details at the sleeves and shoulders to lure the eyes away from your chest. Also, think about choker necklaces as a better alternative to the usual pendants to make sure that the focus is on your neck and face.
V-necklines aid cleavage and how! The flattering V-shape slightly plummets, creating the illusion of a fuller bust by putting the focal point in the middle of your chest. Make-up can also do wonders, did you know? With the right touch of foundation and blush, you can make your cleavage appear “deeper”.
Jewel necklines are your next best bet if you don’t feel confident enough to wear a V-neck yet. This rounded neckline is also known as the T-shirt neckline. Baby tees are the perfect example of pieces that have jewel necklines. They’re easy to jazz up with necklaces and other accessories, thereby ‘distracting’ the eyes from your bust to your statement piece instead.
Basic cuts with fun details such as classic nautical stripes, floral prints or delicate ruffles are safe bets. Or how about a tulip skirt instead of the routine A-line? Bright colors also help to pump up the fun in your wardrobe without sacrificing style, like this vibrant cardigan in cherry red.
Always try to strike a balance. The rule of thumb is to have only one statement piece at a time. If you’re wearing a polka-dot top, keep the bottom simple, and vice-versa. This goes for shoes and accessories as well. Match a simple outfit with a killer pair of patent pumps, or dress up a simple shirt with a few strands of elegant pearls. With the right coordination and attitude, you’ll not only look super classy but might turn a few heads, too.
Have fun defying gravity! Ciao, bellas!
